SUMMARY This position, under general supervision, is responsible for maintaining and improving specific Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) compliance systems at Corden Pharma, independently managing EH&S compliance programs, and recommending and managing system improvements for compliance with EH&S regulations and/or company policy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following.

Analyzes and evaluates workplace environments, equipment, EH&S programs, policies, and practices to ensure they meet regulatory requirements and standards, including local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and International Fire codes (IFC) regulations and standards Assesses EH&S training needs and ensures all employees receive necessary and required training; coordinates and/or administers training Develops, implements, monitors, and continuously improves company-wide EH&S programs in a variety of areas, such as confined space, electrical safety, lock-out tag-out, fall protection, fire protection, injury and illness recordkeeping, ozone depleting compounds, stormwater, and spill prevention control and countermeasures (SPCC) Conducts or coordinates safety equipment inspections, monitoring, and record keeping activities as required by permits or regulations.
Reviews environmental data collected by instruments, software packages, etc.
Ensures that all necessary files and records are maintained and retained in compliance with both corporate and legal requirements Manages the Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program.
Directly supervises the LDAR contractor, coordinates leak repair with maintenance, and maintains LDAR compliance documentation.
Also coordinates LDAR change management and system audits Assists the EH&S team to investigate and resolve problems with plant environmental systems, such as the air emission collection and control system, wastewater treatment plant, and hazardous waste management units Provides a positive public image for Corden Pharma safety through interactions with the outside emergency response community and/or industry safety groups and programs such as the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) Participates on the site Compliance Team as an internal auditor and trainer Performs periodic safety inspections and compliance audits Conducts Industrial Hygiene monitoring Coordinates the ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management System Reviews, investigates, and identifies resolution for EH&S incidents Provides on-call technical support in case of site emergency Works with process and equipment design teams to design safe and environmentally friendly processes.
Reviews and approves new or modified equipment designs and operating procedures LEADERSHIP & BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES None.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline, and 3 years of industry related experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Previous experience in EH&S Regulatory and Chemical Operations is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information, and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Certified Safety Professional and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred.
Undergraduate courses in safety and fire science, and certification as an EMT is a plus.
