SUMMARY The Principal MSAT Chemist provides strong technical leadership and documentation in the area of manufacturing process support across the CordenPharma plant site.
Strategically develops and implements improvements to commercial or near-commercial processes; including chemistry and technology that significantly improve the environment, safety, robustness, efficiency, and cost aspects of manufacturing.
Responsible and accountable for troubleshooting, process improvement & robustness, and new technology implementation.
Works within a team-oriented environment with professionals from a variety of disciplines.
Conducts research, experimentation, and documentation for such purposes as process troubleshooting, new technology implementation, and process improvements.
Process improvements can include raw material studies, robustness improvement, throughput improvement, waste stream reduction, or any other work to improve COGS.
Interacts with management in developing project objectives, department goals, and site concepts & strategies; advises management regarding technical opportunities and advances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following.

Establishes and maintains strong, transparent, and effective day-to-day working relationships between Manufacturing, R&D, internal support, regulatory groups, and CordenPharma Colorado customers related to assigned duties Provides day-to-day support to manufacturing and process development, at times requiring attention outside of normal work hours.
Support includes troubleshooting and continuous improvement of processes as well as participation in change control, deviations, and investigations Ensures that the chemistry is capable of meeting cost, yield, throughput, and QEH&S goals on assigned processes without sacrificing operability Accountable for the transfer or implementation of technology at a lab or plant scale Provides scalable processes and technical expertise and support during lab or plant operations at appropriate scale Is well informed, develops and implements new and innovative process chemistry and technology that significantly improves the environment, safety, and cost aspects of near commercial or commercial manufacturing Responsible for supplying management with specific project data to facilitate the budgeting process for the transfer or implementation of technology.
Works to identify trends and other improvement opportunities Executes procedures, processes, and methods for solutions to chemical and technical problems on lab and plant scale Ability to conduct root cause analysis for analytical related failures and identify correct preventative and corrective actions from their own investigation Coaches, mentors, and trains less experienced chemists, engineers, and other operations personnel on technical and business issues; encourages excellence by others to operate following Corden’s values, and through positive feedback for good technical teamwork LEADERSHIP & BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrates a positive attitude.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

Ability to write speeches and articles for publications that conform to prescribed style and format.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
Ability to work with concepts such as limits, quadratic and exponential equations, and proofs of theorems.
