We are seeking an RF software engineer for an exciting opportunity to collaborate in the implementation and verification of complex wireless systems.
The successful candidate will be part of a diverse, experienced team working on the latest in wireless standards with a focus on state-of-the-art radio technologies for 5G network infrastructure.
Tasks performed by RF software engineers on the TBS team include: · Collaborate to design, document, and deliver a high performance RF solution · Understanding RF performance requirements and device specifications, and translating systems requirements into efficient software implementations · Develop sophisticated multi-threaded RF control application software written in modern Python3 · Presenting design reviews to diverse cross disciplinary teams · Supporting the commercialization of new RF hardware and features The ideal candidate would have: · Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science · 1+ years demonstrated experience with Python3 programming language · Experience in Object Oriented software design/development · Knowledge of multi-threading programming and associated OS concepts · Experience with device drivers and hardware components (data sheets, schematics) · Familiarity with basic operation of radio components including DACs, ADCs, Mixers, Filters, PLLs, and LNAs · Familiarity with design for test and design for scale concepts · Comfortable working hands-on and communicating amongst a multi-discipline team Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications: · Familiarity with developing/working in Linux environment · Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/UDP/IP/HTTP) and socket programming · Familiarity with industry standard software development and debugging tools (IDEs, build systems, git) · Familiarity with JESD and/or RF SoCs · Experience in a Product Development environment with an affinity for hands-on lab work · Knowledge in signal processing, digital communications, and wireless physical layer specifications Principal Duties and Responsibilities: • Leverages Wireless WAN Modem Software knowledge to design, standardize, implement, verify, validate, and commercialize Wireless WAN (or cellular) air interface and modem technologies.
• Designs, optimizes, and implements software for wireless systems and modems.
• Collaborates with team members to develop high quality and high capability air interface and modems with high performance (e.
g.
, capacity, coverage, throughput, latency, power consumption) and acceptable cost.
• Designs software for components and identifies potential tradeoffs • Develops unit test environment and test cases to test/verify code for a specific component and assists with the integration of software into a platform or product.
• Writes detailed technical documentation and feature descriptions for projects to guide users to implement output.
Level of Responsibility: • Works under supervision.
• Decision-making may affect work beyond immediate work group.
• Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey information.
May require basic negotiation, influence, tact, etc.
• Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions.
• Tasks require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.
