*Purpose of Position*- To provide evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis support services to a caseload of clients and supervise a team of behavior specialists and RBTs/Line Staff.
Consults with KCS clients, staff, and families regarding behavior therapy techniques and provides staff training, provider education, and works closely as part of a team to develop behavior interventions, implement treatments, and provide training around Applied Behavior Analysis.
*Essential Duties/Responsibilities* * Interviews clients, staff, and providers to gather relevant background information.
* Analyzes available data to help determine where, when, and why problem behaviors occur.
* Directly observe the client in all relevant settings and analyze the data to determine the function of the target behavior(s).
* Define all target behaviors in objective and measurable terms and design an appropriate data system to measure the target behaviors.
* Integrate appropriate setting events, antecedent, teaching, and consequence strategies to reduce target behavior and increase alternative replacement behaviors.
* Develop client and function specific behavior plans.
* Train staff, family, and providers on the implementation of the behavior plan.
* Monitor the client’s data and provide progress notes.
* Conduct treatment fidelity assessments to ensure proper implementation of the behavior support plan.
* Recognizes and respects individual needs of each client and tailors services and supports to meet those needs.
* Participates in case review, team and general staff meetings, including providing trainings.
* Refers family to service coordinator to assist families in accessing additional funding, or services.
* Ensures complete and accurate documentation, including assessments, initial summaries, progress notes, transition reports and home programs.
* Promotes community capacity building & collaboration.
* Works collaboratively and treats others with respect & dignity.
* Participates in KCS program development & program evaluation.
* Contributes to the financial viability of the program through maintaining billable hours, as required.
* This position requires regular use of a personal vehicle with liability insurance that meets KCS standards.
* Completes all required training, including annual refreshers, in the appropriate timeframe.
*Other Duties/Responsibilities* * Participates in research projects, grants, and agency & interagency committees.
* Supervises behavior staff, including conducting ongoing competency evaluations and providing both direct and indirect supervision per BACB requirements.
* Maintains therapy materials, toys and equipment.
* Attends consumer centered meetings as necessary.
*Job Qualifications* Knowledge, Skill, and Ability: * Solid knowledge of development, motor, cognition, social emotional and self-help areas and working with people with developmental disabilities.
* Expert knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis.
Skill in assessment, and in designing and implementing therapeutic techniques.
* Knowledge of best practice services and supports for people with development disabilities.
* Ability to interact with client at developmentally appropriate levels.
* Solid knowledge of laws concerning abuse and neglect; ability to report any situation which warrants social services involvement.
* Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks/goals for self and others.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills with individuals and groups at all professional levels.
Ability to meet documentation requirements and uphold standards of confidentiality.
* Basic sign language skills.
* Ability to work effectively with various technology including word processing software, internet-based databases, email, etc.
* Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to meet KCS driving requirements.
* Understanding of the developmental disabilities system in Colorado as it pertains to behavior services.
Training/Education: * Masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis or related field required.
* Current BCBA certification required.
* Completion of the BACB Supervision Course preferred.
Experience: * Two years’ experience serving individuals with lifelong disabilities preferred.
* One year’s experience completing Functional Behavior Assessments and writing Individual Behavior Plans preferred.
* Experience providing clinical supervision preferred.
Working Environment/Physical Activities: * Requires the ability to travel to various locations to meet with clients, families, providers, etc.
* Effective with shifting roles, responsibilities, and expectations in a changing environment.
