Job Summary
BioServe Space Technologies welcomes applications for a temporary researcher.
To fulfill the requirements of this position, the successful candidate will need to work within a highly integrated team of BioServe payload development, integration, safety and operations professionals as well as working closely with BioServe’s Chief Scientist.
The position may also work with BioServe undergraduate and graduate students on other payload tasks that must be completed to meet NASA and scientific requirements.

Who We Are BioServe Space Technologies, a space life sciences research center, within the Ann and HJ Smead Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences, develops life science research, hardware and instruments that are launched on crewed and resupply missions to the International Space Station.
BioServe also supports payloads on board other launch vehicles headed to low Earth orbit destinations as well as to the moon and beyond.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be This position will support hardware assembly and verification testing for BioServe designed, developed and manufactured space flight hardware that will be used to conduct biological payloads on board the International Space Station this calendar year.
This position will develop, complete and maintain relevant documentation for both internal and external purposes in order to support space flight certification, manifest, launch and operation of these biological payloads.
Additionally, the position will support the coordination of a one-time K-12 teacher education seminar in July 2024.
What We Can Offer The hourly pay range for this position is $25.

What We Require This position requires a Master’s degree in aerospace, electrical or mechanical engineering and the equivalent of 2 years’ experience supporting the design, development and conduct of space life science payloads on board the International Space Station.
Effective skills in written and oral communication, organization and attention to details are essential qualities of the successful applicant.
What You Will Need The successful candidate will be detailed oriented, understand BioServe’s documentation system, work well independently and within a high-performing team.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, able to write and follow set processes and procedures and follow through with detailed documentation requirements.
The successful candidate will also be able to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines and willing to learn new tasks that support the integration process required to support space life science research and payload design.
What We Would Like You to Have Master’s degree in aerospace, electrical or mechanical engineering.
Three years’ experience supporting space life science research and payload development.
Understanding of the payload integration process for space flight.
